కాంగ్రెస్-మజ్లిస్ కూటమికి ఐదుకు ఐదు స్థానాలు

నిజామాబాద్ మున్సిపల్ కార్పొరేషన్ కో-ఆప్షన్ సభ్యుల ఎన్నికలు సోమవారం ఏకగ్రీవంగా ముగిశాయి. అధికార కాంగ్రెస్ పార్టీ మిత్రపక్షం మజ్లిస్తో కలిసి మొత్తం ఐదు స్థానాలను కైవసం చేసుకుంది.
ఫిబ్రవరిలో మేయర్ పీఠాన్ని దక్కించుకున్న కాంగ్రెస్, కో-ఆప్షన్ ఎన్నికల్లోనూ పట్టు నిలుపుకుంది. ఐదు స్థానాల్లో రెండు మజ్లిస్కు, మూడు కాంగ్రెస్ బలపరిచిన అభ్యర్థులకు దక్కాయి. కాంగ్రెస్ నుంచి సర్దార్ నరేందర్ సింగ్, ఎంఐఎం నుంచి ఉజ్వల పోటీ లేకుండా ఏకగ్రీవంగా ఎన్నికైనట్లు అధికారులు ప్రకటించారు. మిగిలిన మూడు స్థానాల్లోనూ కాంగ్రెస్ బలపరిచిన అభ్యర్థులు గెలుపొందారు. వీరిలో నిజామాబాద్ రూరల్ నుంచి ఒకరు, అర్బన్ నుంచి నలుగురు ఎంపికయ్యారు.
బల్దియా ఎన్నికల్లో 28 స్థానాలలో గెలిచి అతిపెద్ద పార్టీగా నిలిచిన బీజేపీ ఈసారి సరిపడా బలం లేక పోటీకి దూరంగా ఉండిపోయింది. గత నెలలో కో-ఆప్షన్ సభ్యుల ఎన్నికకు నోటిఫికేషన్ జారీ కాగా, సోమవారం మేయర్ ఉమారాణి అధ్యక్షతన, కమిషనర్ దిలీప్ కుమార్ ఆధ్వర్యంలో ప్రత్యేక సమావేశం నిర్వహించారు. 50కి పైగా దరఖాస్తులు రాగా, చర్చల అనంతరం 5 గురు కో-ఆప్షన్ సభ్యులను ఏకగ్రీవంగా ఎన్నుకున్నారు.
ఈ సమావేశానికి ఎమ్మెల్సీ మహేష్ కుమార్ గౌడ్, రూరల్ ఎమ్మెల్యే భూపతి రెడ్డి ఎక్స్ అఫీషియో హోదాలో హాజరయ్యారు. జనరల్ కోటాలో కూడా కాంగ్రెస్-మజ్లిస్ అభ్యర్థులకే మొగ్గు లభించింది. ఎన్నికైన కో-ఆప్షన్ సభ్యులను అధికారులు సన్మానించి నియామక పత్రాలను అందజేశారు.

The Congress-Majlis alliance made a clean sweep in the Nizamabad Municipal Corporation co-option member elections held on Monday, winning all five seats unanimously.
The ruling Congress, along with ally MIM, secured the posts with no contest. Of the five seats, three went to Congress-backed candidates and two to Majlis. Congress candidate Sardar Narender Singh and MIM’s Ujjwala were declared elected unopposed. The remaining three seats were also bagged by Congress-supported candidates. Among the five elected members, one is from Nizamabad Rural and four are from Urban.
After winning the Mayor’s post in February, Congress has now consolidated its hold in the co-option polls as well. The BJP, which had emerged as the single largest party with 28 seats in the municipal elections, stayed away from the contest this time due to lack of adequate strength.
The notification for the co-option member elections was issued last month. A special meeting was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Mayor Umarani and supervised by Commissioner Dileep Kumar. Over 50 applications were received, and after discussions, five co-option members were elected unanimously.
MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud and Rural MLA Bhupathi Reddy attended the meeting in ex-officio capacity. Congress-Majlis candidates also got the majority even in the general category. Officials felicitated the elected co-option members and handed over their appointment letters.
