G Shairaz/Correspondent :
Delayed scholarships have become a major problem for students in Nizamabad district. Thousands of SC, ST, BC, Minority and EBC students who depend on scholarships for their fees are facing severe difficulties.
Students say that even though the academic year has started months ago, scholarship amount and fee reimbursement have not been credited to their accounts. Due to this, colleges are pressuring them to pay fees.
"My parents cannot afford to pay the fees. I am fully dependent on scholarship. Now college management is asking me to pay or they will not allow me to write exams," said a degree student from Auto Nagar.
Many parents working as auto drivers, farmers and daily wage labourers are struggling to arrange money.
Student organisations demanded that the Telangana government should immediately release pending scholarships and fee reimbursement. They warned that if the issue is not solved, they will hold protests.
